Case Study: Talent Retention and Development

A multi-state footprint Urgent Care Organization needed to retain and develop identified staff for Medical Assistant roles. Previous attempts with local schools interfered with the existing full-time work, and other online providers did not deliver timely completions with certifications. The states of the footprint require training by an accredited institution. The organization wanted live skill alignment at their facilities given by the in-house team leaders.

Two healthcare systems' mental health divisions are expanding and need early-stage talent to assist providers and patients. Each required uniform training by an accredited institution away from the facility and live skill alignment at the facility.

Case Study: Tailoring Solutions

• After conversations with the key stakeholders, we determined that the USCI model will work.
• The USCI Corporate Division provisioned a SharePoint site for the live skills trainers and key stakeholders to monitor progress and adapt their live skills checklist.
• Each of the ten employees works full-time with the expectation of online study hours at the employee's convenience.
• Positive student outreach messaging was developed to encourage, motivate, and let each student know that they have many people cheering for their success every step of the way.

Result - New Nationally Certified and properly trained Medical Assistants (one at each facility) completed training and attained national certification in less than 22 weeks.

• After conversations with the key stakeholders, it was determined that the  USCI Social Work Associate of Applied Science holds four courses that fill the need, but not the entire AAS Program.
• With that as the directive, the USCI Academics team moved the four courses into the proprietary LMS and coded it exclusively for the Healthcare Organization Clients.
• The USCI Corporate Division provisioned a SharePoint site for the live skills trainers and key stakeholders to monitor progress and adapt their live skills checklist.

Result – Fourteen new hires receiving uniform training in each course over consecutive eight-week segments. Each of the fourteen employees works full-time with the expectation of one day per week devoted to studying and other online study hours at the employee's convenience.
